A suspected thief has been shot dead by a security guard at Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) premises in Nsanje district.

Nsanje police spokesperson, Sub Inspector, Agnes Zalakoma has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the incident happened last night.

Zalakoma has identified the deceased as as Kampa Nyanthana.

According to Zalakoma, ” Kampa was with a gang which the security guard felt wanted to rob the premises and fired the riffle in the air to scare them off”.

When police responded to the scene, they discovered the body in a pool of blood, but preliminarily, they believe he was caught by a stray bullet.

Nyathana hailed from Tambo village in the area of Traditional Authority Mbenje in the district.
