News coming in indicate that organizer of Malawi Sali Bwino demonstrations Bon Kalindo has been arrested by the Malawi Police Service (MPS).

According to reports, Kalindo has been arrested on allegations of illegal electricity connection.

Malawi police spokesperson James Kadadzera has confirmed of the development.

Kadadzera added that the alleged illegal connection of electricity is  at the house Kalindo  is currently residing in  at Area 25 in Lilongwe.

He is currently being held at Lilongwe Police.

Kadadzera said: “Mr Kalindo is currently at Lilongwe Police Station and will likely answer charges of tampering with electricity equipment as stipulated in the Electricity Act”

Kadadzera says Kalindo will appear in court soon.
