Human Rights Advocates Caution On Attempts To Fire ACB Boss

Human Rights groups have joined the rest of Malawians in rallying their support behind Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma and warns against any attempts to fire her.

The groups; Centre for Democracy Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI), Social Revolution Movement, Mzuzu Youth Caucus and Concerned Citizen Mundango Nyirenda have made it clear that they will not let anyone to frustrate the ongoing Zuneith Sattar corruption Investigations.

According to the groups, doing so would mean waging war against the citizens as any careless handling of the matter will likely attract wrath of Malawians.

In a joint press statement, the groups said that the leakage of an audio clip in which the ACB Boss was on a phone call with unknown person discussing work related issues should not be a reason to excuse Chizuma from her job.

“Since the power of the people is greater than those in power, authorities ought to remember that Martha Chizuma was put in that office by Malawians and the very same citizens want her there. Therefore, the ACB Director General is going nowhere,” reads part of the statement.

Meanwhile, Chizuma has not said anything regarding the leaked audio clip.
