Police in Chikwawa have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly being found in possession of seven bundles of loose cannabis sativa without a permit.

Chikwawa police deputy publicist, Constable Chancy Mfune has identified the suspect as Pilirani Mukhawa.

Mfune gave details of the incident saying the suspect allegedly packed the illicit drugs in a laptop bag while travelling from Blantyre en route to Chikwawa on a Toyota Hiace minibus registration number NN1808 yesterday afternoon

“the officers who were manning the Kamuzu Bridge road searched the minibus and found the illicit drug. The law enforcers seized it, leading to the arrest of the suspect, who was later taken to Chikwawa Police Station for further investigations” added Mfune.

Mukhawa will appear before court soon
