Bullets, Nomads step up derby hype

Domestic football powerhouses FCB Nyasa Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have urged their followers to throng Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre this Saturday when they face off in the TNM Super League.

The latest derby will be the two giants’ 75th meeting in the battle for the commercial city’s bragging rights.

The age-old rivals are tied at eight points in the league, but the Nomads, who have a superior goal difference, are in third position while the People’s Team are fourth.

The pre-sale of entry tickets for the most sought-after fixture started on Monday and the match is being promoted through radio adverts, social media channels as well as activation vehicles around the city.

Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga in an interview said yesterday said: “We are calling on our supporters to buy the tickets and come in large numbers to cheer up their team.  This one is a must-watch game.

“They [Bullets fans] should remember to buy replica jerseys to wear on the day.”

On the other hand, Nomads chief executive officer Panganeni Ndovi said: “The fans should expect an exciting game and they should come in large numbers to cheer their team.

“The boys are geared to make sure they carry the day.”

Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has assured of tight security.

The league’s general secretary Williams Banda said: “Sulom believes  in safety and security,  as such spectators are assured  of tight security,  good  game and more importantly  several  ticket sales options are  available,   advance  electronic  tickets sales through  TNM Mpamba  mobile money platform and  cash ticket sales.

“Our key message is let’s diligently play our roles as per provision. Anyone who tries to cause trouble will face the long arm of the law.”

An advance open stand ticket is selling at K4 000 while on match day it will be K5 000. An MBC Stand ticket is fetching K5 000 while on match day it will be K1 000 more, Covered Stand ticket is at K8 000 and K10 000 on the match day while a seat in the VIP Stand is selling at K18 000 while on match day, it will be K20 000.
