Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has said goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe has recovered from an illness that forced him to miss the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group B match against Senegal.
FAM competitions and communications director Gomezgani Zakazaka said others, such as goalkeeper Charles Thom, defender Dennis Chembezi and striker Frank ‘Gabadinho’Mhango, have also recovered from knocks they suffered during the match against the Lions of Teranga.
Back on his feet: Kakhobwe
“Except for captain Limbikani Mzava, all the players are up and running and unless something happens, they will all be available for selection for the Morocco game on Tuesday,” he said.
Mhango confirmed that he is back on his feet.
“It was just a knock, but the pain is now gone and I am looking forward to the game on Tuesday,” he said.
Mzava suffered a hamstring injury during the match against Zimbabwe and had to be replaced by Lawrence Chaziya.
He has since been ruled out for eight weeks.
The Flames were expected to undergo Covid-19 tests last evening.
