Unknown thugs killed a watchman identified as Innocent Samu, aged 42, at the Mkopoka trade centre in the area of Traditional Authority Ndamera in Nsanje district last night.

Police publicist Sub Inspector Agnes Zalakoma says the watchman was guarding a shop belonging to Brighton Fombe, aged 31.

“On the night in question, the unknown criminals broke into the shop through the main door and stole assorted groceries, where they met the watchman,” said Sub Inspector Zalakoma.

According to the Nsanje police publicist, the unknown thugs brutally assaulted the watchman to death using a pestle before tying his neck with rubber.
