Thandeka Ngcongo, a South African lady, claimed on Facebook that her boyfriend, Mbongeni Mthembu, a police officer, had physically abused her.
“My partner, a police officer at the Mpumalanga police station in Hammardale, beat me viciously yesterday, and I didn’t get assistance to open a case. Please provide a hand. For myself, I need justice,” she stated.
Thobisile Kamlenzeni Nkosi, the Provincial Deputy Chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters in KZN, verified the incident in a Facebook post and stated that a case has been opened. The accused officer, who is affiliated with the Hammarsdale Police Station, was taken into custody and appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
He was given bail and allowed to go.
