Social media users were shocked by a video circulating online, showing a woman in her final moments before death amid a dispute between a Durban couple, allegedly resulting in a fatal stabbing.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda stated: “It is reported that the couple was drinking alcohol when the man allegedly stabbed the woman to death.”

Netshiunda further revealed: “Although the abuse of liquor and other substances could be attributed to the suspect’s actions, it is not yet clear what could have led to the stabbing.”

Additionally, earlier on Tuesday, a policeman was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, with police alleging that the officer assaulted a 29-year-old woman along Mthoko Mkhize Main Road on Sunday night.

Netshiunda explained: “He alleged that she also assaulted him and damaged the door of his vehicle. The two were allegedly drunk when they started assaulting each other.”

Ultimately, by Tuesday afternoon, both individuals were arrested and charged, with the girlfriend facing common assault and malicious damage to property charges after the Sergeant opened counter-charges.
