Govt Blames Covid-19 Over Failure To Create 1 Million Jobs

Malawi government is continuing blaming the global pandemic Coronavirus on its failure to fulfil one of its campaign promises, 1 million jobs.

This was said yesterday during a press briefing on ex miner in Lilongwe which was organized by minister of information Gospel Kazako and deputy Minister of Labor Vera Kantukule

The two were making an address on the situation of paying ex miners in the country.

According to Kantukule, they have managed to develop a job creation strategy which will clearly state how jobs will be created.

She said such a strategy will go a long way in ensuring that jobs are available more especially for the youth.

‘’People need to have more patience as ground work is being done now and again under this strategy. But with the Covid19 pandemic, some operations have been frustrated’’ she said.

On the issue to do with ex-miners, Kantukule has made revelations that fifteen of the workers have received their proceeds from government.

She has since indicated that a larger number of other ex-miners are also lined up to benefit from the proceeds.
