Second witness, crime investigator Bauleni Mthinda from the National Police Headquarters, has told the court that Lester Maganga did not surrender himself to the law enforcers’ headquarters when asked to do so.
Mthinda said instead, the suspect suggested they meet him at Area 43 Filling Station near Area 30 Police Headquarters.
He said when he was walking towards the filling station, the suspect pulled over and asked him to jump into his vehicle and drove to the filling station.
He said they had planted police officers at the filling station in question and the suspect was subsequently arrested.
He said they found a rifle in the vehicle (a Toyota Rav 4, red in colour) which the suspect was using on the material day and took him to Lingadzi Police Station for further questioning. He did not have any license for the live ammunition.
He was found with two blank bullets and one live ammunition. According to the crime investigator, blank bullets can explode and cause harm.
