Zomba district youth-friendly health services coordinator Miriam Goliati has commended the youth for accessing voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) services.
In an interview on Wednesday, she said the interest among the youth was commendable.
“This shows that we are on the right track in as far as combating HIV is concerned as well as reducing the risks related to sexual and reproductive health [SRH],” said Goliati.

She said Zomba District Health Office (DHO) plans to rollout initiatives to encourage more youths to access SRH services.
A youth Innocent Nyondo commended the DHO for reaching out to them with SRH messages.
“I now know my HIV status because I got tested during one of the outreach programmes,” she said.
Youth-friendly health services are a key component of Malawi’s National Sexual and Reproductive Health Programme.
Malawi Government launched the Youth-Friendly Health Services National Standards and Youth-Friendly Health Services Programme in 2007 to promote quality SRH services among young people.
