Nkhoma University (Nkhuni) has offered a 30 percent discount on tuition fees for Bachelor of Education students who enrol under the Independent Schools Association of Malawi (Isama) for the next five years.
Nkhuni Vice chancellor Emily Mwale said the university will have contributed about K80 million towards the students by the end of five years under a memorandum of understanding with Isama.
Mwale said the training of teachers is in line with the government’s vision 2063 under pillar five, about human capital development.
Isama president Wycliff Chimwendo said under the agreement, Isama will send 50 teachers to the university every year for a period of five years.
Chimwendo commended Nkhuni for offering reasonable fees to the students.
He said Isama has embarked on a capacity building drive for its teachers because the government is demanding qualified teachers in all the schools in the country.
The two parties signed the MoU on Tuesday in Lilongwe.
