Senior Resident Magistrate court in Thyolo, has convicted and sentenced a 70-year-old man  to 10 years imprisonment for allegedly sleeping with a 13-year-old girl with mental challenges.

State Prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Editor Kansasi, told the magistrate that on March 29, 2023, the convict identified as Stain Kakhuwala,commited the offense when victim’s mother went out to purchase sugar and left the victim with her elder sister.

Kansisi added that the convict, being a neighbor, picked the victim up at his house on the pretense that he wanted to care for her. Later, the victim’s sister found the convict in the act.

In passing judgment, Senior Resident Magistrate Assunta Maxwell , convicted Kakhuwala and order him to spend 10 years in jail after the state paraded four witnesses who proved the case against him.

Stain Kakhuwala hails from Thonyiwa vilage, senior chief Nsabwe in the district.
