A 39-year-old Mary Banda from Kabuwa Village, Traditional Authority Kanyeda in Nkhotakota district has been arrested last night in Nkhata-Bay for allegedly being found in possession of Cannabis Sativa.

Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson, Sergeant Kondwani James has told authorities today that the law enforcers arrested Banda at Nkhata-Bay roadblock during their night duty through a search in a minibus which was coming from Dwangwa going to Mzuzu.

James further says the officers found three big travelling bags and three small ones all containing the illicit drugs, hence the arrest of the owner who is in police custody waiting to appear before court to answer charges leveled against her.
