Harrison courts Gabeya for UD Songo deal

Former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers coach Mark Harrison has enticed the Nomads centre-back Miracle Gabeya to sign for Mozambican giants UD Songo.

Gabeya is currently in the neighboring country to seal the deal with the Cabora-Bassa-based Mocambola side as his contract with Wanderers is about to come to an end.

He is set to re-unite with Harrison, who was unveiled UD Songo head coach in January after resigning as the Nomads’ mentor at the end of the 2023 TNM Super League season.

Gabeya confirmed that he is in Mozambique, but he could neither deny nor accept that he is there to finalise the deal.

But an inside source, who sought for anonymity, yesterday said the 2022 Airtel Top 8 player of the tournament is about to sign for UD Songo.

He said: “Harrison has trust in the defender and he wants him to sign an outright contract with the Mozambican side.

“In fact, the former Wanderers coach also wanted to sign the Nomads captain Stanley Sanudi, but the right-back has at least a year remaining on his contract.” Wanderers chief executive officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira yesterday said he could not comment on the matter as he was locked in a meeting.
