Police fires teargas to disperse angry vendors in Liwonde

Information reaching this publication indicates that armed police officers are firing teargas to disperse angry vendors who stormed offices of Machinga District Council.

The vendors are not amused by the council’s decision to relocate them to the main market.

One of the vendors identified as Samson Meleka told this publication that they are angry with the council for failing to fulfill what they agreed before allocating them to the new place.

The vendors blocked the road and some were seen burning tyres.

The move forced the law enforcers to come in and started firing teargas to disperse them resulting in running battles.
