Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) District Governor for Malingunde in Lilongwe Enerst Phambala has dumped the party and joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Phambala was welcomed into MCP fold by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera during a development rally held today in the capital Lilongwe.

His defection comes barely days after another DPP senior member Uladi Mussa also joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Speaking at the rally MCP Deputy Secretary General Catherine Gotani Hara said Phambala’s move to join signifies trust that Malawians have in Chakwera’s leadership.

She further said that MCP has an open door policy hence people trooping in.
