Former speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje has joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Chilenje has been welcomed by President Lazarus Chakwera in Mwanza where he is conducting a development rally.

She once served as an MP for Nsanje under the ticket of the opposition Democratic Progressive (DPP) for two terms.
