In a celebratory moment, Gambian bride Meta Mbye is gifted D28,000 (N357K) by her husband after successfully passing a virginity test.

Meta underwent the traditional virginity test, a cultural practice that assesses a bride’s chastity before marriage.

The family expresses joy and breaks into a dance following Meta’s success in the virginity test.

During the test, a relative waiting outside confirmed that Meta’s husband generously gave her more than the stipulated D28,000, equivalent to N300,000 in Naira.

“The husband was so happy that was why he gave her D28,000, which was placed under her pillow,” she said

The video of the event sparks varied reactions online, with some congratulating Meta while others call for an end to the practice, deeming it embarrassing.
