Lightning kills man in Lumbadzi

A man identified as Mabvuto Kaputa, 27, has been struck to death by lightning in Lumbadzi.

The incident happened on Thursday, November 09,2023 at Kalipande village in the area of Senior Chief Chitukula in Lilongwe.

It is reported that Kaputa (now deceased) was coming from his working place, Central Poultry Limited where he worked as a guard going to his home whilst cycling.

Upon reaching at Kalipande village, he was struck by the lightening which made him fall down.

The matter was reported to Lumbadzi Police Station who rushed to the scene and took him to Lumbadzi Health Centre for treatment.

Postmortem results indicated that death was due to electric shock secondary to lightening.

He hailed from Kunsesa village, Traditional authority Chitukula in Lilongwe.

Meanwhile, police in Lumbadzi is advising people to observe the following precautions during rainy season. Stay away from open areas or fields, not to stand near trees or tall isolated objects and to avoid metal objects exposure such as pipes which are lightning conductors inorder to avoid similar accidents.
