Emirates flight EK9747 carrying ballot papers for Dedza Central Constituency By-election has landed at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.

The Flight landed at exactly 12:37 pm.

MEC officials, Commissioner Dr Anthony John Mukumbwa, Francis Katsayira and Richard Chapweteka including three representatives of contesting candidates are present at the scene to witness the receipt and dispatch of the ballot papers.

Three candidates Willard Alfred Gwengwe of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Jacob Joseph Kaumphawi an independent and Andrew Ndekha Mtunga Kowedza representing the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are expected to compete in the by-election scheduled for 16; November 2023.

The by-election comes following the death of MCP Member of Parliament, Daniel Chiwere, in July this year.
