MERA Hikes Electricity Price

Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has adjusted the price of electricity from K123.36 per kilowatt to K173.7 per kilowatt.

MERA has attributed this increment to the 44% devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha announced by the Reserve Bank 2 days ago.

MERA has also adjusted the prices of fuel, which has already resulted in an increase in minibus fares.

Malawians will have to endure tough times ahead as more goods prices are set to skyrocket.
