Football Association of Malawi (Fam) President, Walter Nyamilandu Manda, has said Mzuzu city needs a well-structured stadium like Bingu Stadium.
Addressing the media after inspecting the Mzuzu stadium on Thursday Nyamilandu, expressed his worries over the status of Stadiums in the northern region saying there is a lot to be done in order to improve the football development in the country.
“I must say Mzuzu city needs a state of art stadium it’s not something should be proud of that we can play matches on the venue like Mzuzu stadium.
“We should not drop down our standards as citizens, as football community we deserve better and I for one wouldn’t want to have this facility forever, I played football here in my time nothing has changed we need to have better facilities to develop our football,” said Nyamilandu
After inspecting the stadium Nyamilandu, ordered the Club Licensing Committee to come up with a determination on the status of Mzuzu Stadium within 48 hours.
FAM on August 16, 2023, banned Mzuzu and Civo Stadiums from hosting official elite matches after failing to meet Club Licensing requirements.
