36 houses in Machinga district have been submerged in water following heavy rains which resulted in flooding at Lingoni river in the area of Traditional Authority Mposa in the district.
Vice Chairperson of Mposa Area Development Committee, Feresta Laston has said that the area has been receiving rains since 7 am this morning, resulting in flooding, where two villages of Manja and Mlomba have been affected by the heavy rain.
“Most livestock and household items have been destroyed,” Laston said.
Machinga district relief and rehabilitation officer, Daniel Mandala has confirmed the development, however saying that the assessments are underway.
