18 Arrested for Fuel Theft from in Balaka

In Balaka District, 18 individuals were apprehended for allegedly stealing fuel from locomotives.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Kanono Village in the area of Traditional Authority Symon in Neno district, which borders Balaka.

Following complaints from Central East African Railways (Cear), Balaka Police, in collaboration with E Division and Neno Police Station, conducted an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

A total of 300 liters of Diesel and Petrol, along with 200 liters of Ethanol, have been recovered.
