Workers at Chicco Contractors, responsible for rehabilitating the Kacheche to Chiweta section of the M1 road, are currently on a sit-in protest to advocate for multiple demands.
These demands include a salary increment that the company allegedly promised four months ago but has not fulfilled, as well as transportation and lunch allowances.
The employees are also demanding the removal of the Human Resource Manager, accusing him of not addressing their concerns adequately and thus failing in his role.
One worker, Alex Nyasulu, highlighted that they have not received their agreed-upon food and transport allowances for the past 6-8 months.
When contacted, the company’s Public Relations Officer, Francis Mgala, referred inquiries to the Commercial Manager, who has yet to respond to the questionnaire.
