Six Suspects in Custody for Allegedly Creating Roadblocks and Endangering Travelers in Rumphi

Police in Rumphi are keeping in custody 6 people on suspicion of endangering the safety of travelers on the M1 road near Chiweta and Livistonia road.

The suspects stand accused of setting up roadblocks with the intent to steal from people traveling on these roads.

The alleged offense falls under section 237 of the penal code, which deals with intentionally endangering the safety of persons.

The suspects have been identified as Penjani Vwalika (39), Bonaventure Mkandawire (35), Forgiveness Msiska (27), Richard Msiska (18), Ephraim Phuwa (20), and Fred Khombe (19), all hailing from Rumphi district.

They are expected to appear in court to address these charges in the near future.
