Police Chase Vendors Buying Fuel In Jerricans At Pump Station In Thyolo

Police at the Bvumbwe trading center in Thyolo district intervened to disperse vendors with jerricans at a fuel pump station.

Their actions aimed to provide motorists with an opportunity to refill their tanks amid the scramble for petrol, which had been offloaded the previous night.

Some of the vendors had been selling the commodity at an inflated price of K6,000 per liter within the district.

Malawi faces fuels crisis due to forex shortages. In his words, Former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor, Dalitso Kabambe suggested immediate fiscal policy, monetary policy, and exchange rate policy reforms as potential game-changers within an eight-month timeline.
