United Democratic Front (UDF) Vice President for Eastern Region Hasheem Banda has resigned from his post and the party with immediate effect.

Banda has confirmed of the development in a letter addressed to UDF President Lilian Patel and UDF Publicity Secretary Yusuf Mwawa seen by this publication.

In the letter Banda has not stated reasons for his action.

But inside sources claim that Banda has resigned from the party due to some inside wrangles.

Banda was appointed on the post by the current UDF President Lilian Patel.
