Police in Mangochi district are hunting for unknown assailants who raped and killed a 21-year-old woman identified as Tandika Rajab.
According to the deceased’s sister, Tandika left the house to attend an initiation ceremony within the area and never returned.
She was found the following morning lying lifeless in a nearby uncompleted building almost naked with semen all over her genitals.
According to Public Relations Officer for Mangochi Police Station Amina Tepan Daudi, police rushed to the scene and took the body to Mangochi District Hospital where postmortem results indicated that she died due to strangulation after being raped.
Meanwhile police are hunting for the assailants who will answer charges of murder and rape once found.
Furthermore, police are appealing to members of the public who may have information which can lead to the arrest of the suspects in the matter to tip them.
