Police in Limbe – Blantyre have arrested 48 street-connected children from around the area, with some suspected to have been behind a spate of attacks on people in the city.
Limbe Police Station Spokesperson, Aubrey Singanyama said the law enforcers have arrested the children through a special operation, “Usalama,” a joint operation by various police departments.
“Those suspected to have been terrorizing residents have been charged with criminal offences. The police are also in the process of tracing parents for the other street-connected children,” said Singanyama in a statement.
Their arrest come in the wake of a public outcry alleging that street-connected children are preying on people in the city.
