Mayamiko Kambewa, a councilor from the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has been elected as the chairperson for Dowa District Council.
He secured 15 votes, defeating Gift Nkhono Songeya of Kayembe ward, who received six votes.
Kambewa previously held the same position in 2021 and promises to work closely with the council on various developmental projects in the district.
Samuel Chikakhula emerged as the new vice chairperson after winning against Billy Mtika.
The council looks forward to a promising term under the leadership of Kambewa and Chikakhula.
