Court dismisses Lost History Foundation application to join gay marriages case

A panel of three Judges hearing the same-sex unions case, have rejected an application from Lost History Foundation to join the case.

The three judges, Chimbizgani Kacheche, Joseph Chigona and Vikochi Chima argued that their interest in the matter is not sufficient.

Lost History Foundation wanted to be part of the case for their archiving and research purposes, among others.

A Dutch national, Wim Akster and Jana Gonani, a transgender from Mangochi are challenging the country’s laws to decriminalize same-sex marriages.

The case is currently underway at the High Court in Blantyre.
