Court lifts injunction against DPP’s NGC meeting

The Supreme Court of Appeal has lifted an injunction restraining the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) from holding the National Governing Council meeting.

Deputy National Director of political affairs in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Billy Malata obtained an injunction on grounds that the people who were being invited to the meeting are not members of the NGC that were elected at the 2018 convention.

In his ruling Justice Dingiswayo Madise ordered the DPP to hold the NGC meeting and Malata must take part in that meeting.

Delegates to the NGC meeting are scheduled to decide on the dates for elective conference of the party.
