Chimwendo and Kandodo during the briefing

The Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee on Independence Anniversary Celebrations who is also Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda has disclosed that government will cough close to K320 million to make the celebrations a success.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lilongwe this afternoon, Chimwendo who is also Leader of Government in Parliament, says there will be a National Service of Worship on July 5 at the Bingu International Convention Centre( BICC) and that on July 6, there will main celebrations.

Chimwendo who was accompanied by two fellow cabinet ministers, Uchizi Mkandawire and Kandodo Chiponda disclosed that several neighbouring countries have been invited to grace the auspicious occasion.

Several traditional dances and football match between Bullets and Yanga football club from Tanzania will also battle it out on that day.
