The Malawi Defense Force (MDF) has withdrawn labour from the rehabilitation of Chiringa-Muloza road which was damaged by Cyclone Freddy in March this year due to alleged funding woes.
Sub-Traditional Authority (STA) Phweremwe has confirmed the developemnt and said that soldiers withdrew their post at Mchenga village before Sukasanje Health Centre in Phalombe district.
Spokesperson for Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) Chipiliro Khamula has said that funds allocated to the project have been depleted and works will resume once funds are available.
Two months ago, the government hired the MDF to refurbish the Chiringa-Muloza road which became inaccessible by vehicles owing to the impact of the disaster.
