Limbe Police Station is searching for thugs that exhumed the body of Tony Robert, a man with albinism, removing the arms and legs.
The station’s spokesperson Aubrey Singanyama said Robert’s grave was found tampered with on Sunday at Maliha Village in Chigumula Township, Blantyre.
According to Singanyama, Robert succumbed to cancer last July.
But on Sunday, villagers discovered that the tomb had been tampered with and reported the matter to police.
When the police, Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) officials and Bvumbwe Health Centre medics arrived, they found the remains with arms and legs missing.
They took the remaining body parts to Kamuzu Central Hospital’s mortuary where they are awaiting reburial.
