Director of Youth in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Richard Chimwendo Banda has assured people in Eastern Region that government will continue to undertake various development projects to ensure sustainable socio-economic growth.

Chimwendo Banda, who is also the Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, was speaking at Cape Maclear Football Ground in the area of Senior Chief Nankumba in Mangochi.

The MCP Youth also hailed President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for initiating various development projects across the country.

He said the Cape Maclear road, which is under construction will enhance economic activities in the area.

In his remarks, Senior Chief Namkumba equally thanked government for initiating and mobilizing resources for road project in question, stating it will boost tourism industry in the area.

Namkumba then urged chiefs under his jurisdiction to always support the government of the day for continued development.

Speaking earlier, MCP Deputy Secretary General, Gerald Kazembe urged people to continue supporting the party and that government will continue coming up with programs that will benefit all people.
