In Salima, a 16-year-old girl has been found hanging in one of the rooms at a lodge in the district.

Salima police Spokesperson Jacob Khembo has confirmed the development and identified the deceased  as Vihanse Christabel Mirande from Sri Lanka.

According to Khembo, the deceased is believed to have been showing signs of depression according to her father.

Mirande came in the country two weeks ago to visit her father, who works at a lodge in the district.

Postmortem from Sengabay Baptist hospital has shown that the late Mirande died of suffocation as a result of strangulation.
