Malawi Nation Football team, the Flames are out of the Africa Cup of Nations – AFCON race following goalless draw result against Ethiopia in Mozambique.
The Patrick Mabedi side needed nothing short of a win to maintain their qualification AFCON hope.
Meanwhile, Guinea have scooped second place in group D and qualify for AFCON 2023 alongside Group Winners Egypt.
The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to be the 34th edition of the biennial African association football tournament organized by Confederation of African Football.
It will be hosted by Ivory Coast for the second time, having first hosted it in in 1984.
This edition of the tournament was supposed to be the 3rd time taking place in the Northern Hemisphere summer since the 2019 edition to reduce scheduling conflicts with European club teams and competitions
However, CAF postponed this edition to 13 January and 11 February 2024 on 3 July 2022 due to the adverse summer weather concerns in Ivory Coast
