PPM Needs National Conference To Review Constitution Of Malawi

President for People’s Progressive Movement (PPM) Mark Katsonga Phiri says the country needs to have a national conference to comprehensively review the constitution to balance the powers of the three arms of government.

Kasonga believes that such a review is necessary to balance the powers of the three arms of government, as there have been observations that the executive branch has been dominating in the operations of the country.

He further said that  funding is a significant obstacle in achieving a balanced distribution of power as the money is controlled by the executive branch, which gives them an advantage and allows them to exert excessive influence.

As a proposed solution, Phiri suggested the closure of account number one, which is where the power is concentrated, in order to address this issue.
