Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Councillor for Chibavi East Ward Gabriel Mwaungulu has resigned from the party and joined the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD).

Mwaungulu announced his resignation on Sunday during the 30th anniversary rally organized by Enoch Chihana at Chibavi Ground in Mzuzu.

The Councillor has since promised to work tirelessly in wooing the masses to vote for Chihana and AFORD in the forthcoming 2025 presidential polls.

AFORD is currently holding rallies across the country ahead of the polls.

The party is scheduled to hold its elective conference in September.
