Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mwanza West Joyce Chitsulo says sports in particular football can help in deepening and widening integration among the community.
Chitsulo was speaking yesterday in her constituency where she presided over the final football bonanza between Envulo and Kayera football clubs as part of celebrating her birthday.

“Apart from community cohesion and integration, community football leagues and bonanzas are the heartbeat of any football national team in the world,” said Chitsulo who is also Public Appointments Committee Chairperson of Parliament.
She also added that regardless of cultural diversity, sport disciplines have the capacity to bring the society together as sports bring happiness to the society.
“Sports breaks down barriers that divide us from one another and promote peace and harmony. Sports also prevents acts of vandalism. In summary sports is a religion that binds us,” said Chitsulo
In Kunali bonanza match, Envulo beat Kuyera 2:1 and carted home K150,000, football uniform and footballs while Kayera pocketed K100,000, football uniform and footballs.
In the Nyau Bonanza, Mandaawana got K100,000 plus 24 pieces of ‘zitenje’ while number 2 got Kamkoma got away with K50,000 and 24 ‘zitenje.
Several traditional leaders graced the function.
