Some artists have donated funds to ailing legendary musician Paul Banda to help him make ends meet.
In an interview after presenting the donation, a representative of the artists under Cosoma WhatsApp group Khuza Rampi said the gesture was in response to a video clip of Times presenter Brian Banda which explained the challenges that the musician is facing.

“In the clip, it was explained that Sir Paul Banda has to travel twice a week to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for dialysis and sometimes he fails to do so due to lack of funds for transport,” he said.
Rampi said the artists felt compelled to assist him with the little they have.
“Everyone was donating according to their conviction and earnings. We know our donation is very little, but it will still make a little difference,” he said.
The money amounting to K122 400 was handed over to the musician on Friday afternoon.
Reacting to the donation, Banda thanked the artists, saying it came at the right time when he was planning to travel to Blantyre on Saturday for treatment.
“I had run out of funds and I didn’t know if I would make it to Blantyre. I am really thankful for the support,” he said. Sir Paul Banda, one of the country’s renowned musicians, is suffering from kidney problems and needs dialysis twice a week. He resides in Balaka , which means he has to travel to Blantyre by car or public transport.
