The Principal Resident Magistrate court in Mzuzu has today denied bail to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Director of Operations Joe Nyirongo.
Nyirongo, a famous businessperson in Mzuzu city, was arrested yesterday and has since been charged with robbery.
Principal Resident Magistrate Clemence Chamwenda ordered that Nyirongo remains on remand for the next 14 days as police are yet to finalise their investigations on the matter.
State prosecutor Vickness Simwinga told the court that the suspect should not be released on bail because, his victim is still in critical condition at the hospital and also that police are yet to finalise their investigations.
Meanwhile lawyer for Nyirongo Leonard Mbulo says though he would have loved to see his client released on bail, as he is just a suspect, they will follow what the court has ordered.-ZODIAK ONLINE
