Some section of the civil society organizations (CSO) has written the South African government demanding explanation on why it’s taking them time to act concerns of alleged extortion and persecution against Shepherd Bushiri.

Prior to Bushiri’s arrest in 2020 two CSOs the Forum for National Development and Human Rights Consultative Committee had asked authorities South Africa to investigate allegations of extortion and persecution.

He is being accused of theft and money laundering in South Africa.

However, in the wake of the black-out of response the two organizations have again written the South African government seeking direction on their initial complaints.

Fryson Chodzi, executive director for the forum has told MIJ Online they are surprised by the interest to have Bushiri extradited than their concerns addressed.

“Prior to the arrest, we complained to them about extortion, persecution and drummed-up charges. Nothing was done and nothing has been done.

“We aren’t intending to stand in the way of the current case before the court. But justice must prevail also on our concerns if not we’ll be forced to take another avenue”.-MIJ ONLINE
