Information reaching this publication indicates that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Director of Operations Joe Nyirongo has been detained in Mzuzu.

The arrest is in relation to a robbery incident that happened on Wednesday night.

Mzuzu Police Spokesperson Paul Tembo has confirmed the development.

“Yes, he has been picked this morning, awaiting questioning. There was robbery last night in the city and some pointers are pointing to him,” he said.

Effort to talk to DPP spokesperson Shadrick Namalomba proved futile.
