Local Farmers asks govt to to ban the importation of tomatoes from other countries

Government through the ministry of trade have been asked to ban the importation of tomatoes from neighboring countries.
The plea has has come as some local farmers in the country are no happy with the development of importing tomatoes saying that it it triggering the rising cost of the produce.
“This is negatively affecting us as we are already struggling to find better markets”, said one of the concerned farmers.
However , some trucks have been seen  in recent day delivering tomatoes at Wakawaka in Lilongwe, imported from Tanzania.
Speaking on the matter, Mayeso Spokesperson for the Ministry of Trade has said that the  ministry has received a complaint on this matter adding that an investigation has since been instituted.
