Mangochi parents urged to send children to school

Listen

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) national chairperson Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad has urged parents in Mangochi District to send their children to school to build a bright future for them.

He said on Sunday during the handover of six classrooms and office block at Muft Abbas Primary School that unlike in the past when schools were far part, the lakeshore district is now privileged with many schools.

This is the second time for MAM, the proprietor of the school but handed over to government, to hand over the structures, after a similar gesture in 2018 when the school started.

Muhammad: We have seen many schools being constructed

Said Muhammad: “We understand you that previously, some of you were failing to send your children to school because of long distances to the education facilities.

“But now with many government partners around, we have seen many schools being constructed and this should compel us to embrace the opportunity to educate our children.”

He said education remains a viable tool Malawi can rely on to end poverty, as such, there is need for every parent and guardian to prioritise education for their children.

Muhammad pledged that MAM will continue to build more school infrastructure at Mufti Abbas Primary School such as teachers’ houses, classroom blocks and toilets to ensure that it accommodates more learners.

A representative of Boma Zone Primary Education Adviser Cosmas Chimwaza, commended MAM for constructing additional school infstructure, saying this will uplift the school’s education status.

He said: “Before the construction of these structures, some learners were learning outside. Now with the structures, we will have few learners learning outside. This great and it will spur education at this school.”
